Adelaide Sale Rounds Out With 84% Clearance

Colts by Shinzig and Good Journey topped Day Three at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale today as spirited bidding from the opening two days continues at Morphettville.

One of the colts is bound for Singapore while the other will stay local after both sold for $45,000.

The Shinzig colt, catalogued as Lot 360, was presented by Eliza Park International and was knocked down to Magic Millions’ David Chester, bidding on behalf of leading Singapore based trainer Patrick Shaw.

The colt looks destined to head to Kranji where he will join his four time winning half brother Super Kenny.

Later in the afternoon a colt by Happy Trails’ sire Good Journey was sold to local trainer Nick Smart for $45,000 after a battle with a leading interstate trainer bidding via the telephone.

Offered by Cornerstone Stud, the colt is the second foal of a winning Scenic daughter of former quality filly Lolita Star.

The top priced filly of the day was Lot 289, Balcrest Stud’s Ad Valorem filly from the Bellotto mare Ambolene.

A half sister to Ambika and a direct descendant of the Goodwood Handicap winner Ambala, the filly was purchased by local trainer Will Clarken for $38,000.

All up today over $1 million was given for 89 lots sold at an increased average price of $11,340 and healthy clearance rate of 84 per cent.

Magic Millions’ Adelaide based bloodstock consultant Adrian Hancock was pleased with the results of today’s sale, completing a successful three day auction.

“There was good bidding throughout the day – right to the last lot,” Hancock noted. “The clearance rate for all three days is already at 84 per cent and this can only grow with post auction sales.”

“Breeders who strategically placed nice horses in today’s sale were well rewarded – many selling above expectations.”

“The recent run of success by graduates of the 2013 sale gave buyers confidence with the strict selection process adopted for this sale,” Hancock added.
