Group One performer Huegill topped today’s Magic Millions National Racehorse Sale on the Gold Coast.
A large crowd and spirited bidding helped return a 100% clearance on the 112 lots offered and a day’s gross of over $1.4 million.
Huegill, placed in a Caulfield Guineas at three, is heading to Western Australia after being snapped up by Darryn Pateman for $95,000.
The Unreserved Racehorse Reduction Sale from Patinack Farm proved extremely popular with buyers with strong bidding on a number of lots.
They Won’t Last was the top seller from the Patinack Farm draft, selling to leading trainer Bruce Hill for $50,000.
From London ($46,000 to Richard Freyer), Lingerie Model ($45,000 to Heinrich Bloodstock) and Crown of Coureuse ($43,000 to Glenelg Park Pty Ltd) were also amongst the top sellers from the draft.
Glenlogan Park’s proven city winner Joint Chiefs was purchased by Brian Wakefield for $36,000, while a Northern Meteor half sister to recent Brian Crowley Stakes winner Better Than Ready sold to $32,500 to Oakwood Farm.
“It was a successful day’s selling,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said. “We had a great crowd on hand and it was pleasing to see such a good spread of buyers.”
“Congratulations again to the entire team of Patinack Farm for their hard work in presenting a great draft and having the sale flow so well again after the success of Tuesday’s Broodmare Sale.”
“All in all it’s been a good week’s selling and we’re now very much looking forward to January’s Gold Coast Yearling Sale,” Cox added.
Today’s auction rounded out the Unreserved Reduction Sale of Patinack Farm and Stud Manager Ben Lawrence was pleased with the results.
“There was strong bidding throughout the day and we’re delighted with how the whole sale has been for us,” Lawrence said.
“Magic Millions should be congratulated for their hard work in promoting and conducting the sale – it has been a success and while every member of their team played a part I would particularly like to thank David Chester for his tireless efforts.”
“And thanks to the whole Patinack Farm team who worked brilliantly this week to present the draft for sale,” Lawrence added.
