My New Boss Extends Streak

The winning streak of Magic Millions two-year-olds in Singapore continued at Kranji today when My New Boss impressed with a two plus length win.

Stepping out for the third time for accomplished horseman Brian Dean, My New Boss improved from his two fourth placings with a strong success in the 1200 metre event.

A gelded son of Testa Rossa’s half brother Stromberg Carlson (Redoute’s Choice), My New Boss was purchased by Dean for just $20,000 from the Raheen Stud draft at last October’s Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale at the Gold Coast.

“He’s the loveliest and friendliest horse around,” Dean said of My New Boss who was ridden to victory by Ronnie Stewart.

“The blinkers helped him a lot today.”

“He travelled really good and I was very happy with the way he hit the line. Only Barend won’t be happy because he was offered the ride and went for (late scratching) Eatons Gold and ended up without a ride.”

“He was a pretty cheap horse too. He cost only $20,000 at the Ready to Run sales at the Gold Coast and I own half of him with my old family friend David Chew.”

“I just rang David who is in Rome at the moment. We also race My New Man together.”

Dean said My New Boss could back up in next Sunday’s Group Three Magic Millions Juvenile Championship at Kranji.

“I’ll see how he pulls up and I will then decide if he runs in the Juvenile next Sunday,” Dean added.

Magic Millions graduates have been an incredible impact on Singapore racing in recent seasons through the exploits of Rocket Man, Gingerbread Man and Risky Business.

But it is this season’s juveniles that have taken this success to a new level. Some 19 races have been won in Singapore this season – 17 of those races captured by a two-year-old sold by Magic Millions – 10 of them graduates of the National Horses in Training Sale.

My New Boss, the 47th winner for his sire, is the first named foal for his dam, a two-year-old placed mare by Danzero.

She in turn is from a Moonee Valley winning Rory’s Jester mare who is from a stakes performed half sister to stakes winners Exclusive Halo and Miss Jugah.

My New Boss was one of six Magic Millions graduates to dominate the card of racing today at Kranji.
