Meet a Champion – Enjoy a BBQ With Buff

Thoroughbred enthusiasts will get the chance to learn more about racehorse ownership and meet a champion on the eve of the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.

Recently retired sprint sensation Buffering will make a much anticipated return to the place where it all began to parade for racing enthusiasts and fans during a special pre-sale event.

Buffering’s trainer Robert Heathcote will be on hand along with the Buff’s longtime companion Mel Sharpe to parade the $7.3 million earner from 4pm on Sunday, 19 March.

The son of Mossman, bred in Queensland, was sold at the 2009 edition of the sale for just $22,000 when offered for sale by Racetree and purchased for Heathcote by leading New Zealand bloodstock agent Paul Willetts.

Buffering will be a highlight guest on what is shaping up to be a big day at the Magic Millions Sales Complex.

Racing Queensland and the Thoroughbred Breeders Queensland Association are also launching a new initiative encouraging first-time owners to the racing industry, giving the public an opportunity to engage with trainers and syndicators at an open forum from 1pm.

Don’t miss the chance to see a true legend of the Australian turf – Queensland’s own seven time Group One winning superstar, Buffering!

Mark it in your calendar now – Sunday, March 19 – people’s day includes an ownership and industry forum from 1pm, followed up a BBQ with Buffering at 4pm.

The 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale, comprising 400 lots, will be held on the following two days March 20 (Monday) and 21 (Tuesday).
