Baker Chasing Another Magic Double after Wyong Romp

Baker Chasing Another Magic Double after Wyong Romp

Crack juvenile colt Paradoxium will be out to make it a unique treble for trainer Bjorn Baker after his brilliant win in Wednesday’s $200,000 Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic (RL, 1100m).
Paradoxium’s win was the third for the leading Warwick Farm trainer in the Wyong juvenile feature following the successes of Unencumbered and O’ Ole.

His previous two winners completed a magical double when successful in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast and Baker will be hoping that trend happens again next month.

“It’s pretty special,” a beaming Bjorn Baker said. “He’s a well bred colt and I know Jason (Collett) was very excited to be bringing him here.”

“This is what it is about. We’re in the Magic Millions (2YO Classic) now and I’m hoping third time lucky. I’ve won this race twice before and they’ve gone on to win it (at the Gold Coast).”

“I’m hoping this guy is as good, if not better than all of them. It’s very, very exciting.”

“As much as anything he has got a great attitude to back it (his speed) up. Until you put pressure on these athletes you don’t know exactly what you’ve got – I think he might be pretty special.”

Baker paid tribute to his great mate and leading bloodstock agent James Clarke who has been the driving force behind his bloodstock purchases in recent years.

“I said I was going to leave it (the buying) to James Clarke this year and I think I’ve got the best bunch of two-year-olds I’ve ever had by a margin – we’re buying good horses with good pedigrees.”

Paradoxium was a $400,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale buy earlier this year from the draft of Silverdale Farm for Baker, Clarke Bloodstock and Ridgmont.

Connections will see how the colt pulls up before locking in a final Magic Millions lead in run.

“I’d like to go through the Bruce McLachlan (Stakes),” Baker said of a likely final run before the $3 million TAB Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL) on January 17.

Paradoxium is the first named foal of a twice metro winning Better Than Ready mare who was placed in a Listed Mode Plate in Brisbane.

Paredo, his dam, is a half sister to the dam of this year’s TAB Magic Millions Sunlight and Group One Galaxy winner Private Harry.

Meanwhile, connections of proven Group winner The Three Hundred celebrated another feature winner for their son of I Am Invincible when he scored a thrilling win in the $150,000 Magic Millions Wyong 3YO & 4YO Stakes (1200m).

A winner of the Group Three Winx Guineas at the Sunshine Coast two runs back in July, The Three Hundred had to survive an ambitious double protest before being confirmed the winner.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained four-year-old, who carries the colours of the red hot Trilogy Racing operation, was a $400,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale buy from the Yarraman Park Stud draft in 2023.

A three quarter brother to The Three Hundred, by Coolmore Stud’s exciting young sire Home Affairs, will be presented by Segenhoe Stud at the 2026 Gold Coast Yearling Sale as Lot 769.
