Stakes Winning Trio Highlight Magic Weekend

Hidden Kisses, Golden Penny and Settle Strada led the way for Magic Millions graduates on a successful Saturday of racing around the country.

With no fewer than 47 wins around the country it was indeed a big day for graduates for Australia’s leading thoroughbred sales company.

Leading the way at Warwick Farm was top former Queensland mare Hidden Kisses who led home Group One winning stablemate Royal Descent in the Group Three Toy Show Handicap.

Now prepared by Chris Waller, Hidden Kisses was purchased by leading bloodstock agent Paul Willetts for $25,000 from the draft of Robyn Wise at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Hidden Kisses, an eight time winner, has earned over $548,000 and is now a valuable group winning mare with her breakthrough success on Saturday.

A daughter of successful Queensland based Danehill sire Hidden Dragon, Hidden Kisses is one of five winners from the 100 per cent winner producer Kiss an Angel.

Five times a winner on the track, the Piccolo mare Kiss an Angel has also produced the city performed winners Sequalo Revenge and Chasing Kisses.

Bargain buy Golden Penny continued her great run of form with a popular win in the listed Penny Edition Stakes at Morphettville Parks.

A member of the Richard Jolly stable, Golden Penny has turned out an incredible money spinner for her connections considering she cost her trainer just $7,500 at the 2009 Adelaide Yearling Sale.

The mare was bred by the Hodgson family’s Riva Ridge Stud and Dr Terry Hodgson was one of the happiest men in the mounting yard after the win.

With seven wins and five minor placings from 25 racetrack outings, Golden Penny has earned an ever increasing prizemoney haul of $268,350.

The win was a valuable breakthrough for Golden Penny following an excellent last start third in the Group Three Spring Stakes at Morphettville.

By former Kambula Stud based sire star Blevic, Golden Penny is one of two winners from the twice winning Danehill Dancer mare Miss Moula.

Miss Moula, who won at 1000 and 1200 metres, is from an American winning Diamond Prospect mare who is a grandaughter of the former outstanding race filly Wiggle.

Settle Strada continued his stakes winning streak when he cruised to victory in Saturday’s listed Goodwood Sprint at Belmont in Perth.

Prepared by David Harrison, Settle Strada kicked off his latest campaign in July by winning the Beaufine Stakes. Since then he has also won the HG Bolton Sprint and Belmont Newmarket to make it four straight black type victories.

Settle Strada was a graduate of the 2010 Perth Yearling Sale where he was offered through the draft of Taunton Vale.

The win was the fouth black type win among nine wins and five placings from just 17 starts and earnings of $368,150.

Settle Strada is one of three winners produced by the unraced Thunder Gulch mare Unsettled.

A half sister to the twice group placed mare Revolutions, Unsettled is from a Sydney Bletchingly winning daughter of Sydney Cup winner Palace Revolt.

The latest yearling from Unsettled, a bay colt by Discorsi, has been entered for the 2014 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.
