Triple Elegance Bounces Back In Mm Cup

Proven group winner Triple Elegance bounced back to his brilliant best with an outstanding win in today’s $400,000 Oracle Magic Millions Cup (1400m) at the Gold Coast.

Courtesy of a perfect ride from in form jockey James McDonald, Triple Elegance proved a length too good for his rivals in a strong performance.

Prepared by Chris Waller, Triple Elegance showed outstanding form earlier in his career when he captured the Group Three Liverpool City Cup but in recent times he’d been struggling to recapture his best.

But today in the beautiful sunshine of the Gold Coast he returned to his best beating a field packed full of stakes winners.

With Waller flying from Sydney to the Gold Coast for tonight’s fourth session of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale racing manager Liam Prior was left to represent the stable.

“It was a beautiful win,” Prior said.

“He’s a horse who’s shown a lot of form and he’s promised a lot for a long time.”

“It’s very fulfilling and I know the owners will be over the moon today and full credit to James McDonald who rode it a treat.”

“It was a lovely race for him and it’s great to get the win on the board.”

“Often horses like him will click with a win like this. Hopefully that is the case with this guy.”

“The race was run to suit and it was a good ride from James and full credit to the team at home. We’ve got a big team of staff and they do a magnificent job with the horses.”

The win was the second on the Magic Millions card for James McDonald after riding the boom filly Bennetta to victory in the Fillies & Mares event earlier in the day.

One of 21 individual stakes winners for former outstanding sprinter Mossman, Triple Elegance was purchased for $80,000 by Waller from the draft of Murrulla Stud.

At it stands he’s earned his connections over $786,000 from just 36 runs.

Triple Elegance is from the Sydney winning and Group Two placed Quest for Fame mare Mary Machree.

She in turn is from the stakes winner Hysterical and is therefore a half sister to stakes winner Hy Fuji and stakes placegetter Supreme Echo.
