Records tumbled today for Magic Millions Digital, as the Magic Millions Digital (31 Jul-5 Aug) Sale broke through the $2 million barrier for the first time in the platform’s short history, closing with a gross of $2,020,250.
The sale featured the first offering from the Forest View Farm Unreserved Dispersal, where two standouts, Sminky Shorts (Lot 77) and Western Lady (Lot 28), were extremely popular.
Sminky Shorts was highly sought after once the catalogue went live, eventually selling to Three Bridges Thoroughbreds for $365,000 after a bidding war of 64 bids.
“Today was the first time I logged in and bid and it was very easy to use. The platform (Magic Millions Digital) has come a long way in a short period of time,” Toby Liston of Three Bridges Thoroughbreds said.
“The Duncans have been very good breeders for a long time and this mare has already produced a good one so let’s hope she does it again.”
“She’s in-foal to Anamoe, a stallion we really like and she’ll now go to Yarraman Park this season to be covered by Hellbent.”
Western Lady, another highlight amongst the Forest View offering and who has been in rich form recently with wins at her last two starts at Ascot was purchased by Byerley Bloodstock for $265,000 after 65 bids.
Outside of the Forest View Farm Unreserved Dispersal, the sale included many other highlights.
Three-year-old Cansort (Lot 3) garnered interest from multiple domestic and international buyers. Hong Kong-based Tobias Chong secured the gelding for $120,000, and he will continue his racing career in that jurisdiction.
Amongst the breeding prospects, Group 3 New Zealand Cup winner Bozo (Lot 49) was knocked down to Hall of Fame Bloodstock for $105,000 and Listed placed mare En Pointe (Lot 56) will stay in Queensland after selling to Steve Morley Bloodstock for $60,000.
Racehorse shares also proved popular, achieving a 100% clearance rate led by a 35% share in Group 2 Perth Cup runner-up Filthy Habits selling for $40,000, a 10% share in last-start winner Dirty Habits selling for $14,000 and two 10% shares in Group 1 placed Basilinna selling to two different buyers for $4,000 each.
