Hoss Amor Brilliant In Wyong Millions

Hoss Amor burst into contention for Queensland’s richest race next month with a brilliant debut win in the $200,000 Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic (1100m) this afternoon.

A member of the John O’Shea stable, Hoss Amor was sent out at healthy double figure odds, but after being positioned beautifully throughout he reeled in the favourite Hidden Warrior late in the race to win well.

Named after her part owner, Sky Racing’s newshound Andrew Bensley, Hoss Amor will continue to improve according to connections and will now head to the Gold Coast.

“Wasn’t that a bit of funn,” a delighted John O’Shea said. “Just great.”

“She’s got a good bit of ability. She got a little lost at her first trial – but she jumped much better today and Brenton rode her beautifully.”

“She got a little lost up the straight, but she’s got a lovely action hasn’t she,” he added.

“I think she beat a pretty good field actually. It’s pretty exciting.”

“I put my brother into her so there was a bit of pressure I can tell you. That’s his first horse, so how about that!”

Winning rider Brenton Avdulla was delighted with the performance of the first starter and said he was looking forward to riding the talented youngster in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

“She did a good job – she bounced out well and John had her pretty tuned up for today,” the talented young rider said.

“We got into a good spot, but I thought the second horse had us beaten on the corner when it skipped away, but when I put a couple around her tail she really hit the line strong.”

“Whatever she has done today she is going to improve on,” he added. “I think she is going to be a very good ride in the Magic Millions (Classic).”

Hoss Amor ($19) worked home stylishly in the straight to reel in the favourite Hidden Warrior ($3.20) and win by a neck.

Dear Demi ($6) was doing her best work late to finish third under Corey Brown.

A member of the final crop of former outstanding Magic Millions graduate General Nediym, Hoss Amor is the second winner for his dam With Love.

A Melbourne winner at two by Favorite Trick, With Love is a daughter of the former outstanding juvenile Loving Cup.

A winner of three stakes races at two, Loving Cup is the grandam of kiwi stakes winner Celeris and is closely related to stakes winners including Laudemio, Vintage Dance, Pittance, Fullazz and Shy Hero.

It is also the family of the stakes performed Admirelle – the dam of highly regarded Queensland juvenile Sizzling.

Hoss Amor was bred in Victoria by Peter and Pauline Liston’s Three Bridges Thoroughbreds operation and sold at the Gold Coast for $100,000.

The Liston’s have an outstanding trio of youngsters heading north for the 2012 Gold Coast Yearling Sale – a colt by Starcraft and fillies by Not a Single Doubt and Sebring.
